Post-Naptime

I'm going to let you in on a little secret: family pictures don't have to be a big deal. You can even have them done in your own home! And because they're at home, you don't have to worry about the kids.

Let the kids be kids, this is their domain.

Loren is THAT kind of a mom. The one who allows her children to be children, who understands that messes happen and that life is all the more colorful for it. Loren has become one of my good friends; we bond over boy-mom-hood and creative projects. I love her confidence and honesty about life.

Loren texted me as soon as soon as Henry woke up from his nap, and I came over to document a totally normal afternoon at home (with Jackson sleeping in a bit). They read books, painted pictures, and played shirtless in the carport.

And that was it. No stressful outfit-planning. No trying to get everyone to look the same place at the same time and smile. Just a normal day that I hope is reminiscent of all of their normal, beautifully slow afternoons at this time in their lives. It's my belief that someday, these images will mean the world to those boys, because I already know they are the world to their mom.
